We
believe that there is one presence and one power in the
universe and in our lives. This one presence and one power
is GOOD, ever present, always available, and ever
accessible.
We believe with Jesus that
God is Spirit. God is not a man or a woman sitting on a
throne in the sky, but an abiding presence. God is formless;
unlimited and uninhibited by time, form or space.
We know God as wisdom. Being
wisdom itself means that God is unchanging principle. What
God is, God always has been, and will ever be. God is Love,
therefore ours is a ministry of love.
Each of us is a creation of
God; therefore our true essence is in keeping with the
nature of our creator. We are therefore good!
At Spiritual Unity we think
of God as Divine Mind and of ourselves as an idea in the
mind that is God. While we may see ourselves as primarily
physical beings, we are in truth first and foremost
spiritual beings.
We believe that each of us,
like our way shower Jesus, has within us all we shall ever
need to enter into the complete knowledge and understanding
of who and what we truly are – that is perfect and beloved
expressions of God. To know our true Self we must first know
God.
Our means of connection with
God is our mind. We believe that what we think about comes
about. While we may believe that we have been created and
set adrift to fend for ourselves; this is not true. When we
look at the world around us and our fellow inhabitants and
we see illness, death, poverty, fear, evil, and despair. But
when we look within us we see a world of health, life,
abundance, peace, love, and joy. Jesus taught that knowing
God comes as the result of our worship in Spirit and in
Truth. We do not look at worship as a bowing down, but
rather we see it as a looking to the source and resource of
our being for the support that is rightfully ours. We
utilize affirmative prayer. This means we know that there is
no need to beseech or cajole God into forgiving us or giving
us what we need and desire. As we worship in Spirit and in
Truth we come to know what Jesus came to know; the true
nature of God as Love and of ourselves as perfect
expressions of this love.
As we come to know God, as God is, we will,
as Jesus did, accept our rightful place in consciousness and
come to express and experience only good and only love. This
growth in consciousness will reveal to us the true nature of
God, our true character, and our oneness with God and each
other. As we grow in awareness and understanding, the
Kingdom of
God
is revealed to us and expressed through us. For at this
point, we are truly co creators with God…we are the Christ!
